These cut up letters seem to be selling for about $15 - $25 a pop, with whoever is doing this listing a few fragments every few days. Shame that people are actually bidding on these.

No indication of what these are, I think they are just old letters, probably nothing to do with Tolkien, that they chop up and sell to very naive buyers.

What’s next, a previously undiscovered “letter” from Tolkien to James Naismith?
Truly wild. Same as what we’re seeing with the Auctioneum mess… no one should be entertaining this and spending money on something that someone “says” is written by Tolkien without proper provenance. Much less such senseless vandalism…. What can men do against such reckless hate!

Is there some way to contact Ebay and ask them to take it down because of the problematic nature of the product? Or does Ebay not care?

At the top right corner of your mobile device , when looking at a listing, there are three dots to click on, at the bottom of a drop down menu there is a help/report option to submit a report to eBay…but having said all that, eBay doesn’t really care.

I have only managed to get eBay to remove one item that contravened their rules, the hundreds of others were ignored. That one, the rights' holder complained about, and it was removed instantly. I still report items but have long given up on expecting eBay to do anything.
