Correct me if I'm wrong, but if the seller did "scam" you or do something untoward, you could just file a claim with ebay and get your money back or something?

Yes, you are right about the FOTR looks like a 3rd print variant B (colophon present). TT also is a 3rd print A variant (regular title page) I believe.

Can any of the eBay gurus explain why someone put 16 bids on it in small increments raising the price.

Seems like they are artificially boosting it or something. Or is it like an “automatic bid” thingy you set that raises it in increments. I see this strange behavior a lot and don’t know why it happens.

Well, I don't know what an "eBay guru" is but...nothing fishy going on, looks like from the bid history someone has placed a high "bid up to" number and a couple of others are poking at it to see if they can figure out what that number is...

I would be lying if I said I knew max bid on eBay worked like that. I always thought bidding on eBay was just a hard number. Like if I set it to $1200, it would raise the bid to that number and not be hidden, or is that a separate option all it’s own?
