I just opened my recently ordered copies of the Readers Union LOTR, and this fell out. Seems to be an original clipping. Is that lucky? Or nothing special?

I doubt it is worth anything, but it has interest value and adds a little history to your RU set, so it is lucky, IMHO. Hopefully it hasn't discoloured any of the pages in the book, though?

Thanks... yeah, fortunately no discolouration! It was a lucky day for me; from another seller I had bought 'Pictures by JRR Tolkien' (the American first print) which I already had, I just thought it was a good price ($25 US). Turned out the seller confused it for the British first print (which I didn't have!).
