The illustration in chapter II which depicts the Green Dragon Inn was not present in my 1997 copy. Maybe it was added at a later impression, I think it's the first time I see it

I have to say that I love the redesign and the layout in this edition BUT I still prefer the glossy paper used in the original edition, just for the illustration pages.
I like the different colouring on most of the rescanned LotR 60th illustrations (which I had not seen until now), but I feel the choice of paper make the pictures look dull and blurry when compared to the 90s edition.
I ignore if the one-volume LotR 60th hardback is printed in glossy paper.

You are completely right with that. It’s not in the 1997 hardback or the 2008 paperback.

This may have been addressed earlier, but I am confused by the comments on the paper used for this set. Are the pages with just text printed on glossy paper (as in the HMH 2004 Silmarillion) or is it just the illustration pages?

Assuming you are referring to the original topic books ("The Lord of the Rings, Alan Lee illustrated May 2020"), the illustrations are printed on non-glossy paper, though the illustration leaves are pure white, while the text leaves are an off-white. Hopefully the attached shows the different tone fairly clearly.

I have a question about this release:
Does the Ring 'emblem' also appear on the title pages, where it says 'Being the __ part of The Lord of the Rings?'
What I'm referring to, is the Ring inscription....ah, ring, from the Centenary logo. It was also featured in the 2014 Alan Lee Lord of the Rings, though I don't recall seeing it in this year's set....for those that own the 2014 one, I believe it can be seen on the opposite side of the 'A Part of the Shire' map, and of course, it can seen quite plainly on the spine, and the end of the slipcase opposite the opening.

The Centenary ring design does not appear in the 2020 edition, as far as I can tell looking through everything.

Thanks for checking! It was something that I had forgotten about once this year's set came out.

I wonder how many that may have happened to? Fortunately mine is ok in this regard.
