The top picture is the Detectives house, or shack as it is called, and the bottom picture is the house of one of the suspects, I think one of the crew had some Tolkien books and wanted to 'sneak' them onto screen.

Ahh good spot. Well I guess that the cast and crew take a lot with them as they film for such long blocks. No doubt someone would take a hoard of books. I know I would.
