service record of king edward's school birmingham 1914-1919

During one of my regularly naive late night searches for things related to king edwards school (because of course I think one day a relevant copy of 'The King Edward's School Chronicle' will show up) I came across a book of interest I was not aware of. 'Service record of king edward's school birmingham 1914-1919'. This is the original publication from 1920. I have no idea how difficult this one is to find, but i have also found online a 2006 reprint from the naval and military press that seems readily available. Of course it had been mentioned by Hammond and Scull but I had not taken notice of it so it came as a bit of a surprise.

Upon receiving books I always leaf through them but even though I knew what I would see, this made a deep impression. 'killed', 'invalid', 'wounded'. All these young men, boys really. And of course here they are also, tolkiens friends and family. The T.C.B.S. The short entries speak for themselves. Robert Gilsons father R. Cary Gilson (once headmaster of the school) has written an introduction.

I quickly discovered I was not the first from this community to find this book. Remy of course had a copy and I'm sure some others here also. This will have a special place in my collection.
