FWIW the direct link to where screenings and tickets can be found is here. I assume this is US-, or at best North America-, only. The page above points you to that link after a bunch of more-or-less fluff.

“ Finally, a nostalgic treat: January 16th also sees a limited re-release of a stone-cold classic, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring. There is simply no substitute for seeing Peter Jackson's sprawling epic on the big screen, where it belongs. It’s a welcome reminder of the shared, immersive joy of the cinema experience.”

I have a wonderful idea. Lets take the best part of these movies, the music, and not use it for the trailer. Then we have the opportunity to use some random modern awful soundscape that does not represent the movies. Sound like a good idea? Great!

Said every rerelease in modern times...

I look forward to this. It's been many years since I saw them at the movies. I have not been able to see them in some recent rereleases.

There is a local theater chain here in Texas called The Alamo Drafthouse that shows the Jackson LoTR films every January with different dates to pick which of the three or all of the films one would like to see. So, I have been fortunate to see these in the theater many times since the release 25 years ago(I stood in line to see those on release night, as I recall)

For the 20th anniversary, I, along with the Houston Tolkien Society arranged to show all three films in one sitting there with trivia during the intermissions. If done right, these films can be quite fun to see in the theatre.

There is a showing of all three extended editions of Lord of the Rings back-to-back in Sweden Saturday 13th December (at Filmstaden) starting around 10 am and ending around midnight.

Note that they have kept the title by Åke Ohlmark ("Sagan om Ringen", The Tale of the Ring) and not the directly translated one that appeared in the later translation by Erik Andersson ("Ringarnas herre", Lord of the Rings). Presumably because it was the formal title of the movie when it was first released.

My local Cinema does the extended edition marathon every Tuesday at 10AM. It is a nice cinema with adjustable comfy seats, alcohol (sadly, I'm tea total) , food, etc., so probably fun for someone who never saw the theatrical releases / experienced the movies on a big screen.

At the end of the day, I just don't want to sit in one place for 13 hours - I think I'd find it "international flight" level of torture. I'm also possibly in the minority in that I prefer the original theatrical releases to the extended editions (probably mostly because they were long enough already).
