Hello Everyone,
As some of you may have noticed, I have some time ago, although pretty recently, aquired the Lord of the Rings 2022 Folio Society edition. The Hobbit was already in my possession. Although I'm very happy with the books, and love looking at them, I have decided to put them up for sale as a set, since I have noticed they are highly collectable at the moment, and lot's of people were looking for it.
I was looking for them for a really long time, but recently my view on my Tolkien collection has changed a little bit in a different direction. This will not be the only collectable which I would like to sell for the right price, but it is one of the more sought after and highly demanded ones.
They are full set and in perfect condition. I would like to sell them as a set, but I'm open to sell them seperate if needed. I will link a small amount of photo's to this thread, but I have a lot more photo's on request. Feel free to respond on this thread if you are interested, and please message me privately if there are any questions or requests.
Price
LotR: SOLD
The Hobbit: SOLD
Kind regards, Noah

Those are absolutely gorgeous and I agree that there is a lot of interest in this set. I do have some regret that I did not consider getting it when it was being sold. Never been so tempted in my entire life. I am interested to talk more for the entire lot.
The standard recommendation seems to be to use a third-party service (such as Ebay) as it offers robust protection for both seller and buyer. With pricy items like this, many people might not even trust their grandma with it, so to speak.
What part of the world are you based? I am thinking about shipping costs as the products are quite heavy.
Dear EmilK,
For you and for everyone else interested, I'm based in the Netherlands.

The Hobbit is incredibly easy to find below RRP. I'd imagine you would be better off selling that individually, and probably also naming a price for LotR, rather than expecting people to guess. Personally when someone won't name a price, I think they are looking for a sucker (imagine if AbeBooks didn't list prices). I'm not saying you are doing this, but it is, I think, a fairly common perception.
I tend to think eBay is a more appropriate venue.
The books can be sold seperate as mentioned in the thread.
I haven't named a price for LotR because the prices online differ drastically. Just to be clear towards everyone, I'm not looking for a "sucker", just a fellow collector like myself who might be looking for the books for a longer time like I had. The price is negotiable, which is the sole reason I didn't put the price up in the for sale message.

Sure, most things are negotiable. But not naming a start price feels distinctly off for a site like this (especially given you are flipping a book you just bought from another member a few weeks ago). I'd actually love for the mods to state that "for sale" listings must state a price. All the regulars do list prices when selling. FWIW, the FaceBook group for sales posts will generally hammer people who say "PM for price" or won't list a price -- and suggest they use eBay.
I'm not flipping the book, and not looking to make a huge if any profit on them. I will edit the original opening thread to name a price indication. Don't want to upset people.

Hello Everyone,
If anyone would still be interested in buying these books, I have adjusted the price a little bit to a total of 2.950 GBP for the whole set.
Kind regards.
