"Shortly after the merger [between Tolkien Society of America and The Mythopoeic Society ] a woman who was an officer of the MPS, treasurer?, got unhappy over how some things were managed and pulled out, starting a new organization. I think it was called The Fantasy Association. They published an excellent magazine, FANTASIAE, for about three years and then vanished." (Ed Meskys, The View From Entropy Hall #12)

Ed was a bit off in his memory, Fantasiae was first published in April 1973 (Vol. 1 no. 1) until Vol. 9 no. 9 (September 1981, whole number 102) - the last issue for the publication.
