Alan 53 has mentioned that another ebayer contacted him, in this item description -

http://www.ebay.com/itm/LORD-OF-THE-R ... tible&hash=item2ec34e1b0d

"FYI, I was recently contacted by another eBayer claiming this is not real leather. It looks and feels like leather, but as I am not a cow and cannot be 100% certain it is, I just thought I'd mention it... Nonetheless, it is a very nice copy."

Why do you need to be a cow to have any idea that a book is leather bound, not all leather comes from cow's, but this item has never come from any animals, it is a paper printing (leatherette)?

I am 100% certain that it is not leather but "it is a paper printing (leatherette)"

That thing's a mess!

This price surprised me:

Lord Of The Rings, The Hobbit, Silmarillion, Folio Society LIMITED EDITION, RARE

I know they're matching numbers, but £1000!?

Yes I agree, whoever bought it got a bargain, that is a very good price.

Does anyone know what the set cost when it was first released?

Thought £1000 was a pretty good price for a matching number set.

Think original prices for LOTR was £330-£350 and Hobbit & Silmarillion around £130 each (but rough prices from memory).

If you are selling a boxset, it would be nice to have a picture of the box

If you can find it then please post

He doesn't include a photo of the box because he mixes and matches them between sets depending on what the customer is looking for.... I kid you not.

Well as an self appointed, aggressive, arrogant and full of self importance individual, who has very little knowledge, for what it is worth, I have to agree
