Tolkien writes to Father Alex Jones^{Alexander Jones, L.S.S., S.T.L., I.C.B. was general editor on the Jerusalem Bible, 1966[1]} apologizing for being late in his submission to the new Bible translation project, and says that he has been stuck in the thirteenth century as of late, alluding to his work on Sir Gawain and Pearl.
