Stanley Unwin informs Tolkien that GA&U intend to publish Farmer Giles of Ham even though with illustrations, two in colour, the costs are high. He believes it will sell on merit. Once GA&U and Tolkien have approved Milein Cosman's specimen which is still to be received, they will proceed.

He remarks that The Hobbit is still being held up at the binders.
