E.R. Dodds, Regius Professor of Greek at the University of Oxford from 1936 to 1960, had bought a copy of The Hobbit and is thinking of gifting it as a Christmas Present as he really enjoyed the book.
The year is uncertain but is probably from 1937-1939.
