Tolkien discusses Black Speech stating that it "was not intentionally modelled on any style, but was meant to be self-consistent, very different from Elvish, yet organized and expressive, as would be expected of a device of Sauron before his complete corruption." Tolkien had made a carbon copy of this letter and placed it with a group of manuscripts titled 'Words, Phrases, & Passages in The Lord of the Rings'. Parts of which were published in Parma Eldalamberon 17 pp. 11-2.
