An example of brief stock letters that would be sent with Tolkien's written signature to readers who had sent letters to Tolkien.
Notes
It reads "Thank you very much for your kind letter. I am always pleased to hear from people who have read and enjoyed my books. I hope they will continue to give you pleasure."

At least two examples have been seen with this handwritten date, both signed by Tolkien.
