Rayner Unwin thanks Bernie Zuber and the membership of the World Science Fiction Convention for awarding J.R.R. Tolkien with the "Gandalf Award" in 1977. The award itself was carried by Saul Zaentz who was traveling to Europe and delivered it to the publisher, who will now forward it onward to Christopher.
