Condition: Tight book. Ex library with rear pastedown removed. No internal markings. CleanRemarkable find of a rare Tolkien gem.
Oxford Poetry 1914-1916 Edited by G.D.H. Cole, et al 1st Edition 1917 B.H. Blackwell Oxford Hardback Not illustratedHammond page ref.: 279 Notes A compilation of three volumes from the Oxford Poetry series. Reprints Tolkien’s poem Goblin Feet. See pp.120-121 Note: Oxford Poetry 1914-1916 also contains verse by Naomi Mitchison, who would later be a devoted fan of Tolkien and his works. The book is in good condition and a remarkably scarce find. Fading to spine with some gilt remaining. The internal pages are unmarked and tight. Work shows very little internal wear. Front board with small crack at bottom right. A rare find of an extremely scarce and coveted Tolkien contribution, and it is in good condition for the Tolkien collector, devotee and completist. They are quite scarce and this is a work we really didn't expect to see again. They usually are ex library, as is this one, and too often marked extensively throughout... and this one is clean and unmarked and very few library indicators (small pastedown at bottom on spine and back board spot were card holder removed. This highly coveted copy is just a treat and a rare gem of Tolkien misellanea. I expect it to be a very long time before another surfaces.
