Very nice copy (Pity about the pesky blue pen mark, though). I have acquired an abundance of these 1sts in decent condition (four of them now). For some reason they come for sale in NZ more than one might expect, and I've found 3 here since I found my first copy in the UK. The interesting thing about them is they are all a little bit different dimensionally. I'm actually struggling to find all the later printings (I still have three to go, IIRC).

There was a thread showing a comparision, and I can't find it, but this one shows the first three copies I found.

It is currently at my in-laws in the UK. I'll get them to take some more photos to get a decent assessment of overall condition. It was just one of those random luck things - The Amazon market place listing popped up from a Google image search. Only arrived yesterday, so the pic there is the only one I have of it at this point, as I just wanted to know if it was the stated edition or if I wanted them to return it for me.

Yeah, they definitely don't come up very often. This is only the second one I have managed to acquire since I started keeping a close eye out in 2006. There have obviously been the couple of very expensive copies, but the very occasional cheaper ones seem to have been BIN listings that were snapped up within minutes. I will most likely sell this copy to offset some Hobbit costs.
