The artwork for this set will be brand new from all 3 artists.

Are you sure about this?

There is new art from all three artists, definitely. The Ted Nasmith piece on the cover of the calendar is the only piece I am aware of that is not new.

insurrbution - the calendar has twelve full color illustrations, and the book has eighteen.

For the moment, looking at the jacket, it's only Alan Lee and John Howe, given the style of the illustrations.
Maybe there are Ted Nasmith's paintings/drawings on the front/rear flaps of the the DJ...

I love Alan Lee’s work so I’m happy to see a new rendering by him of, most probably, one of the Numenorean ships being whelmed in the Downfall.

I was personally hoping for Ted Nasmith's "The Blue Wizards Journeying East", as that's the image used by the 2021 Calendar; which is themed after this edition. The cover is still nice, though I was getting too hopeful!

As that is not new art, I am not at all surprised they did not select it for the new edition of the book. I don't think they would have used it for the Calendar either, but in order to market those at the right time of the year, they had to go with what they had (most if not all of the other original art was not the publisher's hand at the time).

I'm confused: why are we talking about the "Blue Wizards" Nasmith art? Has this not already been the cover for the Pb UT? Can't think why they'd use it again.

That's the image they used on the 2021 Calendar teaser:

And this would be the cover for a Hb UT... why?

I believe @insurbution was seeing the pattern of Calendars and Tolkien books released that year matching:
The Children of Húrin
Beren and Lúthien
The Fall of Gondolin

Not an uncommon pattern or a completely crazy assumption...
