Sure but a book like this is limited at 500, I don t think a few more on the market will make the price falling, I m talking about 2 or 3 spares in a wave of high value but of course if there are many of them like 50 on the market, the value will be affected quickly.

Remember, those 500 took more than *10 years* to sell at retail. The market at £250 - £300 was not big enough for them to retail easily, and that is with quite a few people that I know of buying multiples.

It is super-easy to get carried away and think a few sales is representative of a giant wave of potential customers. I think a small pool of competitive customers is what we have, and a handful of sales will see them satisfied.

I understand but as you know the pool of Tolkien fans is very very large and there s a lot of those fans, ready to buy at "high" price the book (and I m not talking about 1st edition 1st printing £££££..) they don t have and for this example, regrettably Christopher Tolkien died this year so a lot of fans want his signature. I don t want to take advantage of this situation but just to sell one of my books and in the process do another fan happy and by the way make money to expand my collection :)

I don't really agree with "there s a lot of those fans, ready to buy at 'high' price the book", as we simply have no evidence for this. There were a lot of fans two years ago, yet you could buy one for £250 (because only a tiny percentage of fans are willing to pay even that amount for a book). It only takes a small number of buyers to create a temporary spike in demand when there are also a small number of sellers. I personally believe that is what we are seeing here. We saw similar with later volumes of History of Middle-Earth 10-15 years ago. Those volumes can be now bought for a quarter of the price they were trading for.

Of course this is speculation, but what I am saying is - I wouldn't be expecting these to continue to rise, they may hold steady, but there is every chance of a fall. 'Cos we have seen it all before.

If I were a potential seller and I was sure I definitely wanted to sell *sometime*, I'd probably consider now to be a reasonable time. I've only ever sold two books (about to be three), so I'm not really a seller - I don't enjoy the process and I don't really have the time. If I could be bothered with it all, I would probably sell my two spares.

I m agree with you and like you I am not a fan for making money not at all but one or two spares sometime to sell...during a good timing with some buyers, why not. I don t have the time either to make a "business"
It is crazy to see the multiple variations on the market, one day up one day down

You seem to think I'm suggesting you shouldn't be making money from these. That's not my position at all. Anyone who has spares would be sensible to at least consider selling at the moment and realising their profits.

Well this unwrapped CoH Super Deluxe #489 (further up) eventually sold for £920. Less than I thought it would.
