Nothing too rare, but happy to finally add this beautiful oversized book to my collection (for a good price, 50 euros postage incl.): the 1979 GA&U edition of Pictures.

I realized I haven’t shown recent acquisitions in a few months, so here you go. Mostly research/reading material catching up this time. Let me know if you have any thoughts/questions on any of them. 😉

This purchase of nine Walking Tree books (from a fellow collector) brings me up to 15, out of the more than forty titles they have released so far - a long way to go!

Which fanzines? And the Calendar?

I only have a few, but obviously I would like to get more. I know that some can be purchased through Amazon if anyone else is interested.

Fanzines are:
- Bhismi'llah #6, January 1961 - "Slow Train Through Gondor #3: Hobbit on the Road", 8 page autobiographical article by Ted Johnstone (not actually Tolkien related, but I had to buy the issue so I could read it to find that out. Still, a fun article title)
- Gaul v2n2, March 1962 - contains 3 page article "The Ring is Looked Through Again" by Larry McCombs combining a lot of discussion from many letter writers after an article in a prior issue of Gaul - including Walter Breen, Marion Zimmer Bradley, Bernie Zuber and others.
- Silmé #2, August 1962 - art fanzine with photo of the "Fellowship of the Ring" art show trophy
- Cry #169, August 1963 - photo of "Astrid Anderson as Meriadoc" from masquerade at Westercon XVI (I believe - still have to read the entire issue)
Calendar is the 2021 Silmarillion calendar, self published by Elena Kukanova in Russia, bought directly from the artist.

You can order them directly from walking tree (www.walking-tree.com) and you get discount if you purchase more than 5 editions
