Wow! That seems like a lot for that one.

I personally don’t find that edition particularly desirable—especially for that kind of price.

Supposed to be one of the rarest hobbits after the first impressions, the 1942 children book club and the Blackie and sons indian edition.
With maybe the 1987 super deluxe.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

It is certainly one of the scarcest. Much more scarce, I'd hazard, than the 1987 SD (which is fairly easy to find). I don't really include the Blackie Edition in my thinking, as it isn't really a UK edition. I'd say '42 Hobbits (both book club and trade) *with jackets* are more scarce.

To each his own, but I'd rather spend £381 on something else.

Other than scarcity, this Hobbit doesn't have a whole lot going for it: 1970s Hobbit, poor condition, nothing new content-wise (except that ugly cover). I can see someone paying £100 or so if he or she were interested in something like this, but I don't get this price.

This Oliphaunt book is also pretty scarce, but who is going to pay these silly prices?

Copies of The Old English Exodus currently will cost you around £1000; this also is overpriced. £100 seems like a fair price for this book.

Funny, the "ugly cover" is one of my favourite hobbit covers. Not sure what it is about it - but have to say - I love it.

Yeah, me too. I think it might be an acquired taste, though!

You would have to be nucking futs to pay £1000 for an OEE, in my opinion. My near fine copy cost me a little over USD 100 less than five years ago. Now I do accept I got a good deal (as it is in lovely condition and not ex-lib), but there are 3,000 copies of the damn thing.

Personally, for the same money, I would take a PIR Hobbit over an OEE.

So far as I can tell, it is back in stock for $94 direct from the Oak Knoll website.

Good to see! They must have responded to market pressure. ?

Says it's a 4th printing. There is only one edition of this, correct? So it would be the 4th print run of the edition from the early 90's?

Yes, this is just a standard reprint. The text hasn't been updated, as far as I/we know.
