Sigurd & Gudrun and Children of Hurin super deluxe came with a box, yes?

I have also heard from HarperCollins that all of the deluxe editions will be coming in the shipping box. This doesn't stop retailers from removing the box and throwing it away, though (especially if they are skimping on shipping costs as it does add to the weight.)

Yes, the limited editions of The Children of Hurin and The Legend of Sigurd and Gudrun had their own 'publisher supplied' cardboard box.

This was repeated again with the 2014 illustrated slipcased edition of The Lord of the Rings. The illustrated collector's editions of The Silmarillion and Unfinished Tales also featured one. When UT came out, someone stated 'moving forward, they all will.' Because of this statement, I'm not sure if current and future printings of any of the collector's edition will feature a similar box, or just whatever forthcoming editions there might be.

No, only a handful of editions over the years have come in cardboard boxes. Ones I know for sure
-- 1987 Super Deluxe Hobbit
-- 2007 Super Deluxe CoH
-- 2007 Deluxe CoH with a CD
-- 2009 Super Deluxe S&G
-- LoTR with the plastic slipcase
-- 2007 Boxed Set with first 4 Deluxe Editions
-- LEGO print of the Deluxe HoME (Clays did not)

Yep, this one has the helmet motif on the cardboard outer.

HarperCollins stated to me "We will be introducing the packaging across all of the in-print deluxe editions".

Also the 1982 Super Deluxe Silmarillion

and pretty sure the 1992 Super Deluxe Lord of the Rings 3 Vol came in a box. (at least I have a Cardboard Box with "Illustrated Lord of the Rings" typed and the Number hand written - on a white label - but no other markings on the cardboard)

Thank you, that was the quote!

Deluxe Sil arrived from BD today. Had been bulk shipped to NZ and then only had to the domestic bit in the standard BD box. Arrived perfect with no bumping to the HarperCollins shipping carton (and it has the correct poster/map combo). The orange is no less over-the-top in real life than in pictures. At least it isn't drab...

Also got my 4th impression Hammond direct from Oak Knoll. Absolutely fantastic packaging from those guys - amongst the best I've seen.
