I don't know if this is the correct topic, but what's the deal with this book's cover?

They think that Tolkien was really a British spy and it has been covered up. Never seen any proof of this, in fact lots of proof that he had no time to be 'spying'.

I think the gun is his WW1 revolver, https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-25330667

They even did a "signed by the authors" edition of this with a fake signature by Elansea, as well as the Alex Lewis and Elizabeth Currie signatures. Given they (L&C and Elansea) are one and the same, it was a bit weird. I *think* it even had a Ruth Lacon signature, which was doubly weird, given Ruth and Elizabeth are the same person.

This thread is an eye opener. The ingenuity of sellers trying to profit of the back of Tolkien’s popularity never ceases to amaze me.

Inflated prices for Harper Collins reprints of HOME which are dishonestly labelled first editions. Truly hilarious portraits of some old guy with mushrooms growing out of his head apparently representing JRR Tolkien. Books with contrived or fake signatures pretending to be rare collectibles.

Surprised that Nigerian scam artists haven’t got into the game yet.

Note how many sellers refer to the new Prime series as justifying absurdly inflated prices. I hope it doesn’t.

I remembered having read about this book on Wayne & Christina's blog, so I looked it up, in case someone's interested.

(You have to scroll down a bit.) I guess it won't surprise you that the book didn't earn their highest praises.
