Playing with new printer

Well, I got a new wide-format printer with archival quality inks (work budget needed using up....), so I needed to play with it. I decided on a Dust Jacket for my Lydney Park (which is in a plain buckram/paper 1930s quarter-binding). More for fun than any real requirement. Also the blurb on the flap will educate my son as to why I have such a strange thing when he inherits it.

Looks really good, Stu! I learned something from the flip info as well.

This looks excellent! Can I ask what type of printer and paper you used? I am guessing the paper must be special thick stock to show so well...

Hi, the printer is an Epson XP-15000, which is a 6 ink dye printer (The Epson Claria inks are stated to go 100 years without fading for material in albums). I also seriously considered the Epson SureColor P405 (which is a 7-color + gloss modifier pigment printer, with 200 years+ without fading for album material). As most of what I want to do is matte, I ended up deciding on the cheaper XP-15000 (and got spare ink cartridges with the difference in price). Maximum print size for the XP-15000 is 13" x 45", whereas the P405 can print on longer roll paper.

Canon also has a printer in this kind of bracket, but overall affordable A3+ printers are a bit thin on the ground. I assume HP has one, but I wouldn't touch an HP Printer. I like Brother printers (and have a brother A3 printer), but they don't have any A3+, at least not in NZ.

The paper I used for that jacket was HP "heavyweight" 130gsm coated paper for Inkjets, cut from a 50M x 24" roll. I'd probably ideally do that jacket with slightly heavier paper (maybe 160), but the 130 roll was a good compromise for the kinds of stuff I'm printing without buying lots of different paper. I also ordered some Epson Super B (13" x 20") fine art paper, but that hasn't arrived yet, so haven't tried that yet.

Thanks, Stu. I am looking at different ways to handle a set of the trilogy without jackets, rebind or put in facsimile jackets (actually, put up a new post for feedback). Your information is gratefully received!
