I managed to buy the trade edition in an english bookshop in Paris this afternoon.
The book itself is shrinkwrapped and housed in a blue protective cardboard box featuring the Gate of Durin, which is really nice !

It is printed by Rotolito, and the paper is really nice, not to thick, but not to thin either, with a matt touch, and very soft. The text block edges are red, but this colour is not as garish as the promotional pictures which make one think. It's a dark red which seems to me very close of the top stain colour of the first editions.

The original Tolkien's manuscript of the Ring verse has been used and this is a really great idea I think.
There is a special intro written by W.G. Hammond and C. Scull regarding the choices made for the illustrations.
Each original jacket designed by Tolkien has been displayed facing each title page for all of the three parts.

No it does not have the Note on the Text, just the Note on the illustrations which is an excerpt of the Art of the Lord of the Rings, and the Forward to the Second Edition.

For those who may be wondering: the tengwar (early, pre-publication, and different) following the English text of the Ring verse read (in English): "One ring to rule them all one ring to bind them one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them in the land of mordor where the shadows lie". There are many, many differences between this tengwar mode and the mode Tolkien later employed for English.

The tengwar in Ring Verse and Doors of Durin still has typos :(

It is a very slow process getting changes made to the published Lord of the Rings.

I would suggest trying to publish the issues in something like Tolkien Studies, which is peer reviewed.

That would add some weight to the corrections being made. You would also need to create high quality artwork of the correct images for the publishers to use.

Thanks, I've been considering that! Though it doesn't seem to fit Tolkien Studies, perhaps a short note in Mallorn or Beyond Bree.
