Thanks - I appreciate the feedback. I know a lot of people conflate thin paper with bad paper (which I personally don't). The paper on the 1st impression 50th three volume set is very thin, but also very nice. Seems to be quite mixed opinions on this edition!

On one of the other topics raised in George_V's video, I think loose threads have been a curse of all the quarter bound leather/cloth editions. Careful removal with a razor blade has always been my approach to these. They do look very scruffy if left, though - and they really shouldn't arrive like that.

Yes I saw the video. As of yet, no lose thread. But I could see it happening if not careful.

Could you share a picture of standard version without a dust-jacket?

I have seen another video of the hobbit press , putting the standard version into a protective sleeve , which the British version had such a feature , must be an exclusive to the hobbit press edition

The books with the blurred pages , is it just on the Deluxe version , or has anyone reported having them on the Standard copy also ? The deluxe version is going for £300 and £250 on eBay , imagine paying that much , only to discover you have a copy with those blurred pages ...for this to happen it does seem that the books were rushed out , surely there would have been some kind of quality control on these ?

Most collectors use mylar dust jacket protectors on their books (Brodart being the most popular brand). They are fairly inexpensive. Occasionally booksellers supply books already in them as a "value add".

Please could I save these images ? Of the blurred pages ? I’d like to use them as reference as to where there may be blurred edges found , is it in the same place for every book or is it different? Thankyou

If you look earlier in this thread you can find images. They are very obvious, as the text has been printed twice (with 0.5 - 2mm or so movement between the prints). If you get your book and flick through it, you will soon enough identify if you have an issue. The affected pages will stick out like a sore thumb.
