Brodart jacket protector sale in January

5 Jan, 2022

For USA only, Brodart is having a sale for the month of January of 35% off all brodart jacket protectors (and labels and label protectors, if you are so inclined).

The code is CARE35 and does not apply to the regular shipping charges - still, this is one of the better deals they offer if you need to stock up.

Nice! Any specific type you recommend for a novice like me?

I agree with Aelfwine - the Just-A-Fold line are archival materials, and easy to put on. I have sometimes bought rolls, and more recently have been fine with just keeping a box of the pre-cut ones around for general use. I like the 12" high as it covers most standard dustjackets and some oversized ones, but 10" works too. You'll want to fold over the top, so the height of the protector should be more than the height of the dustjacket by at least half and inch or so.

I wonder if the paper is also archival? Tomorrow I will call them.

I would agree with this for the most part. I like the pre-cut ones, as they are easier to handle and put on. Especially when you have a large number of books to do at once. I stick with the 12 inch too, as any book that is smaller I can just fold over.

I like the lo-luster over the glossy super clear. But that's just a personal preference.

I personally just go with 12" rolls. If the book is a lot smaller, I just Stanley-knife it shorter, but for the most part 12" works for most things. I've had pre-cut before, but I definitely prefer the roll format.

The 12-inch version fits (with folding) many trade hardcovers, true, but if they are smaller than 12 inches in height and not especially thick in page-count, then it is is often too wide. The same applies for the 10-inch version wrt (vertically) smaller and (horizontally) shorter books. The standard 10-inch Just-A-Fold fits MOST trade hardcover books perfectly. For outliers, try the 12-inch and 9-inch varieties, for better horizontal (and vertical) fit.
