Have been to some of the London bookshops mentioned but it looks like some seriously impressive bookshops on the list.

I was hoping to see Powell's Books (Portland, OR) on the list, as it is one of my favorite independent bookshops to visit. A full city block, seven stories tall. Easy to get lost and spend days in there (there is food if you can find the café).

I'm really pleased to see Voltaire & Rousseau (Glasgow) on there, and a bit surprised given the company.
Absolutely legendary place. It does indeed have it's own cat too.

I had the pleasure of visiting one of the most beautiful bookshops in person in Maastricht, Netherlands.

There is a preview so you can get an idea how it looks like, push the button top left, chose the pages icon and go for "Seitenübersicht" and you can see one of the Japanese bookshops as an example.

My nomination would be for Peter Harrington in Chelsea, London. They are are an antiquarian specialist and their wood lined shop is chock to brim with some of the most beautifully bound books I have ever seen. They always have a first edition LOTR and Hobbit, usually bound in Morocco. The prices are incredibly rich. If only I could win the lottery.
