Hi all – I recently acquired this copy of the Houghton Mifflin edition of The Lays of Beleriand (see photo), and its dust jacket is more than a little off center. I’m wondering if it’s worth it to try to correct it at this point. If so, any advice on how best to go about that would be appreciated.
Hmmm, doesn't look to be too off center so if you can live with it I would leave it the way it is.
However if you are going to try and adjust the creases in the wrapper, I would suggest taking it off the book and flattening it out as best you can so as to try and get the old creases out. That should make it easier to create new ones for a more centered wrapper. Those HoughtonMifflin HoME wrappers are pretty sturdy so it should hold up to it okay.
Good Luck! You're fighting about 37 years of being folded a certain way
