Very nice, Mr Underhill. I’ve never seen one not faded.

Just arrived today…what do y’all think? Pretty minimal fading as far as these volumes go.

Is this the copy that goftheseas had on eBay?

Doesn't look like it - this one is much less faded.

No, I found it on a dealer’s site in Australia.

Picked up the 1st and 2nd printing of Luis Bermejo’s comic book adaptation of Bakshi’s film. I really liked these as a kid and I still think there’s some funky art in them. In Swedish by publisher Atlantis 79-80 and 88-89.

Thanks for sharing, Roäc!

Here is the Italian version: three hardback volumes, published by Rizzoli in 1979, 1980 and 1981, respectively. The story ends with Gollum deciding to accompany Sam and Frodo to Shelob.

On Luis Bermejo's facebook page two "alternative" pages (7 and 22 of Volume 1, in Italian edition) were shared by the artist:

It is also interesting that the only black and white version I am aware of the is the serbian one... I find these drawings without colors more appealing...

I love these comics! A few years ago I picked up a full set of Stripoteka, the Yugoslavian comic magazine that has this story in them spread across six issues. They are in black and white.

Roac and Uruloke: I remember reading those when I was in school. For some reason the Moria sequence seemed just right to me back then.

I don't usually post, but here are a couple of items I stumbled across in a thrift store today...it looks like they were very well-read. Somehow I hadn't imagined someone would use a deluxe edition for reading in the park!

Still very nice finds though!
