Looks like this set is being re-released this year, but no indication as to whether the box-set will be available for sale again.

Special clothbound collector’s hardback edition of the .... part of J.R.R. Tolkien’s epic masterpiece, The Lord of the Rings. This edition features the complete story with a unique cover design and the iconic maps appearing in red and black as endpapers.

Mine dispatched a few days ago direct from HarperCollins.

Will post some photos when they arrive.

They only worked out at 8.66 Sterling each after the 40 percent discount and 15 percent Cashback.

Books arrived today. Apologies - old set still in shrinkwrap - so no pics of direct comparison of front & rear covers.

New Books (Paper Over Boards) - Slightly smaller in height. Text Colour on Spine slightly different on all 3. Boards colour of ROTK different (Blue rather than green).

What matters to me more than the fabric covering the boards, whether actual cloth or something else, is the binding, i.e. sewn signatures or perfect binding, and the quality of the paper.
