Been extremely busy but that hasn't stopped me from adding to my hoard a bit recently.

(Above) Non-book materials:
  • Andy Serkis Lord of the Rings audiobooks on physical CDs - I wanted these before the Rings of Power cover art might replace the Alan Lee ones and/or they go out of print
  • The Ring Bearer - Journal of The Inner Ring - The Mythopoeic Literature Society of Australia - V7n1, V7n2, V8n1, V8n2
  • Lord of the Brush - documentary/biography of John Howe DVD (still new/sealed)
  • Silmarillion Desk Calendar - snagged for under $10, unmarked though not in perfect condition

(Above) Books
  • Dragons art book/encyclopedia from Johan Egerkrans. A lovely addition to his other books in the series that I have
  • The Hobbit large print edition from Thorndike Press (USA), 2003
  • The Old English Exodus
  • The Lord of the Rings William Morrow (USA) trade paperback with Rings of Power concept art cover
  • Les Aventures de Tom Bombadil paperback (somehow I didn't have a copy of this book, which reproduces in facsimile a page of Tolkien's handwritten "A Elbereth Gilthoniel" and a handwritten letter from Christopher Tolkien to the French publisher)
  • Poems by JRR Tolkien miniature boxed set of three books (HarperCollins)
  • Ibid (Dutch edition)
  • Ibid (French edition)
  • Father Christmas Letters miniature boxed set of three books (French edition)
  • Ibid (German edition)

(Above) - a few that didn't fit well in the other pictures
  • 2023 Calendar with illustrations from many friends!
  • The Art of the Manuscript exhibition catalog, just arrived

Picked up the European printing of the Jemima Catlin Hobbit. Now granted my Chinese printing has been read, I don’t think it deserved to fall apart quite so easily, and I am pretty sure it never looked as good as the European printing.

I suppose I could say that I was not getting Book Club editions, so would not include the Guild edition, but I do have a Book Club edition from Grafton so that doesn't work.

I think I will have to look out for a Guild edition

Congratulations on the recent aquisitions folks. Especially on the OEE Uruloke and on (almost?) finishing that Hague minicollection Trotter.

An interesting item found in a local shop a couple of days ago.

The Lord of the Rings and other Bookbindings of Philip Smith

Self-published in London in 1970.
The first part of the book is devoted to the renowned 'Lord of the Rings Wall of Books'.
Very well illustrated in black and white, with technical notes on the binding process he used.
The second part of the book deals with other superb bindings by this renowned bookbinding artist.
The text is by Philip Smith in English with parallel French translation.
The covers are silvered card with black printing.

His estate does have a small website devoted to some of his work.

I have recently acquired this 2003 calendar and it has a signature on the front which I believe is Ted Nasmith's. Can anyone confirm this, please?
