On the occasion of the unveiling of the fourteenth work of the Aubusson Tolkien Tapestries, the Cité internationale de la tapisserie is organizing a weekend event.

All weekend, June 10th and 11th, come discover the "Map of Middle-Earth" tapestrycarpet and participate in workshops and entertainments, for young and old

?Open 10am - 6pm both days

This is not a tapestry but a carpet, not sure that anyone would dare walk on it though.

This could be the last weaving that was part of the original agreement, but I hope that the Tolkien Estate allows additional tapestries to be made.

I would love to see the 1937 UK dust-jacket for The Hobbit as an example.

They already modified the original deal, "The forest of Lothlorien in the spring" and "Orthanc" seems to be cancelled, Moria Gate and the map are added. Per Denis Bridoux, the following two will be "Beleg finds Gwindor in Taur-na-Fúin" and "The Gardens of the Merking's palace", and the Estate is open to more adaptation proposals.

That is great news.

I was there and the moment was absolutely memorable.
I had the pleasure to meet and have some warm and great conversations with members of the Tolkien family.
I'm still all moved what a day !
