What a rich array of items! I really like seeing those Grafton ones, especially the 1-volume paperback, which was my first copy.

I like how Baillie Tolkien seems to have spelled December in the French fashion first i.e. with a small "d".

P.S. I know that the Edelfeldt-signed FOTR is in a good home

Yes, she was hesitant when she signed my books, she asked me in which language I would like the dedication (I said "as you prefer"). The result is some are signed in french, others in english, some with "both"

Some recent arrivals.

Like a couple of other denizens of the TCG I have been following the recent sales of Tolkien books/items from the George Bixby collection. The store selling the books informed Lance that the collection was huge. There were alot of proofs and ARCs - the Tolkien segment also contained an unusual number of proofs, some of which are rare or even unique. There were even bigger prices in the Tolkien part of the collection than I will mention here.
My first purchase was a UK Silmarillion sold as a 'presumed ARC' with a promotional letter from GAU. I had some dialogue with the bookseller before purchasing the book and learned that this book was part of the collection of George Bixby former owner of Ampersand Books in Greenwich Village and proprietor of The Albondocani Press. I have no idea if its correct to call this Silmarillion an advanced reading copy or not, but I am quite confident that it came with the promotional letter into the hands of Bixby from GAU. It was stored with a number of pre-publication volumes. I also picked up a proof of Randel Helms 'Tolkien and the silmarils' and a proof of Ruth Noels 'The Languages of Tolkien's Middle-earth'.

I also got my hands on the beautiful library rebind of 'The Transactions of the Honourable Society of Cymmrodorion Session 1923-24'. A big thanks to Remy.

PS! the promotional letter with the Silmarillion was 5 pages long! It also mentions a separate price sheet, but no sign of that. Has anyone here seen this material before?
