Does anyone know if this set will have gilded pages? Or if it will have sprayed edges? I know the description said «sprayed edges» But I really hope they mean’t gilded edges.
First of all because gilded edges look far more exclusive, and also serve a practical purpose, by keeping some moisture out of the book. Sprayed edges however look more cheap and have little protective value.
I also think silver coloured edges would suit the design very well! As well as looking like Mithril.

One would think I’d they were gilded, it would indicate as such in the description; as opposed to sprayed.
I had missed that the edges are going to be sprayed, thanks for pointing that out. Gilded would be nice, but based on the wording seems unlikely. I agree that spraying all edges can be cheap looking, but if it's just the top edge that could look nice. It's hard for me to get the image of the recent LotR, Sil, and Hobbit author illustrated trade editions out of my head though when I read "sprayed edges" their description. Not a huge fan of those, but to each their own.
What kind of new illustrations do people hope to see in this upcoming set?
Personally, I've long hoped to see a new illustration somewhat similar to this mural from the Fellowship of the Ring film. Although, depicting a scene closer to what's described in the books, focusing more on Gil-Galad and Elendil standing against Sauron. While the scene is still shrouded in smoke and ancient mystery. The Alan Lee illustrated editions allready include a picture of Lúthien, so paintings depicting relevant scenes from previous ages should not be a problem.

We will know soon! Harper Collins USA (William Morrow) have kindly provided a copy to me for reveal next week. I will do a livestream unboxing at Tue, 10 Dec 2024 5:00 PM GMT, very excited!
Looking forward to see that Urulókë 😊 Where can we watch that? And will it be available to watch after the livestream as well? I might not get around to watch the actual livestream.
I have pre ordered this set through my work at a local bookstore, but I have to wait until late october, early november before I receive it. The shipping from England will at least take two weeks if not three.
