That triggered an alert for me when they listed it a couple of days ago. Certainly a rather optimistic price expectation - which made me laugh a bit!!!

Very misleading (IMHO) listing from Festival Art and Books

Implies that these are firsts (without quite saying it), when of course the majority of the deluxe editions are clearly reprints. Why pay RRP for these books, when you can pay much more than RRP?!!!!!! Also, half of the "deluxe editions" shown are trade editions.

Recommends keeping them in shrinkwrap --- I guess that stops you finding out you bought a load of reprints...

And another one from dogfark. Apparently Amazon must be an independent bookshop (as they will happily sell you a pocket Hobbit for next to nothing). Oh, and apparently it is OK to also show the picture of a completely different edition when selling a pocket hobbit from 2024...

I genuinely despair.

I thought it was common knowledge that the third impression from 1974 came in a slipcase (and that some of the fourth impressions also did - I have a fourth that was issued in a slipcase).

For someone who continuously claims to be an expert there is a lot of common knowledge that he doesn't appear to possess.
