The hardcover editions of The Children of Húrin and The Fall of Gondolin are not without flaws: truncated or even missing maps, partially revised translations of certain quotes. But the worst remains the collector’s edition of The Lord of the Rings, which is a major misstep—riddled with typos, quotes that do not use the previously translated texts from the Bourgois collection but are instead retranslated, an index that is incorrect in most entries, and so on. The fan community is also puzzled by the delay in the publication of the previously unedited French translation of The Defeat of Sauron and by the fact that another volume initially announced (The Fall of Númenor) is no longer mentioned by the publisher.
Vincent Ferré reveals that he was named "literary advisor to the family" in Christopher Tolkien’s will, with "a special mission concerning his archives."
Adam Tolkien, the son of Christopher and Baillie, is reportedly also in dispute with Éditions Bourgois, which allegedly led him to reclaim his translation rights.
thank your for this post. I'll make this remark: it is already known that Christopher Tolkien "named (me) advisor to his literary executors", as Baillie Tolkien says in her 2024 speech at the Bodleian ("Christopher Tolkien at 100: A celebration ") - see also https://www.tolkiensociety.org/events/ ... ien-centenary-conference/

All upcoming releases in French, including the magnificent hardback edition of Foster's Guide (which I was fortunate enough to contribute to), a highly anticipated study on the impact of Antiquity on Tolkien's stories, and the ongoing collections.
Fantastic Video. Many thanks.
Nice to see the Tove Jansson illustrated Hobbit coming soon (albeit in softcover rather than hardcover).....

Thank you all !
Even though these videos are intended for a French-speaking audience audience, it's nice to know they can also be useful for who don't speak French (I imagine that the dubbing now offered by YouTube is helpful) who want to follow the latest news about French publications, or even purchase them.

French-speaking readers now have their own edition of The Hobbit illustrated by Tove Jansson.
Unlike the German edition, which is based on the 1962 Swedish edition, the French edition is based on the 1973 Finnish edition.
