Private consideration – unique Gandalf Masterpieces (POP 1)

Private consideration for a unique Tolkien collectible.

I am discreetly considering private offers for the only existing PSA 10 example of Gandalf from the 2006 Topps Lord of the Rings Masterpieces set (Population 1, none higher, PSA verified).

This is an irreplaceable, endgame-level piece intended for a Middle-earth collection focused on absolute rarity rather than trading.

The item is not publicly listed and will only be considered for the right long-term collector.

Private messages welcome.

Firstly, welcome to the site.

Regarding the item you have offered, this is not in any way intended to question your integrity or genuineness but I doubt this is the right platform to sell an item when the group here rely on knowledge of who they are buying from. While sales platforms are not totally safe, they do offer protection for buyers and somewhere like eBay may be your best opportunity to sell this item. Those interested would want some form of recourse available during a sale so as I said above, I doubt many of our collectors here will buy privately when they do not have any track record to help them judge risk.

More generally on your final point about only selling to a long term collector. We see lots of younger fans interested in many interesting items and excluding them the opportunity to buy an item seems to me at least to be unnecessary. Younger collectors deserve the chance to buy rare items.

Thank you for the welcome and for taking the time to share your perspective – I appreciate it.

I completely understand the importance of trust and track record within a close-knit collecting community, and I certainly did not intend to raise any concerns. My intention in posting here was first and foremost to engage with knowledgeable collectors and to be transparent about the existence of the item, rather than to push a transaction.

I agree that established platforms such as eBay can offer useful buyer protections, and I am not opposed to using a recognised intermediary or secure method if a serious discussion were to progress. My mention of “private consideration” was simply meant to reflect a cautious and respectful approach rather than exclusivity.

Regarding long-term collectors, I appreciate your point and agree that passion for Tolkien is not defined by age. My wording was intended to reflect care for the item’s future rather than to exclude anyone, and I am happy to clarify that.

Thank you again for the constructive feedback – it is genuinely appreciated.
