As I mentioned in my
introductory post one of my other major hobbies is LEGO collecting and building. In reality it's my #1 hobby and the one that takes up the majority of my budget and focus. I have over 1500 sets spread over multiple rooms in my house. My biggest focus is on the vintage sets of my childhood (80s-90s Pirates and Castle especially) but of course there is also a huge intersection with my love of Tolkien! It's actually the Lord of the Rings sets of 2012-13 that started getting me majorly back into the hobby over a decade ago and I went all-in on collecting the complete theme. I also collected some of The Hobbit sets of the era, but I was much more selective with those (I did have to at least get all of Thorin's company minifigures).
These photos aren't the greatest, but you'll get the idea. My main collection sits on floating shelves in my media room overhead of my entertainment center seating.

I've also been collecting all of the newer wave of sets from 2023 onward, but unfortunately I haven't built any of those yet other than the BrickHeadz.
Now that I've done a complete remodel of my two main LEGO rooms and have the display space set aside that situation will be changing soon and I will be starting to build these.

Any other LEGO collectors here?

Nice, I do like the Tolkien Lego. What do you think of the rumoured Minas Tirith set which might be released this year?

I have high hopes for Minas Tirith but am prepared to be disappointed. I passed on Barad-Dur despite being impressive. I only have one lego set and that is the stunning Rivendell which I simply could not overlook. Will I be able to resist the calling of this one? Well not if it equals Rivendell,or whisper it,surpasses. Enjoy.

I'm pretty excited for Minas Tirith, but I'm not real stoked on the $600 price tag! I would really like LEGO to bring back some of the smaller, more affordable playset offerings to the line.
All that said, I'm almost 100% certain I'll be buying it all the same!
I'm interested to see how the microbuild concept translates, as all of the other sets they've done thus far are more minifig-scale. But I'm guessing that we'll get something akin to the recent
Neuschwanstein Castle which is a gorgeous set.

I want to get LEGO Lord of the Rings sets, but these are so expensive that they almost rival some of the most expensive books I have ever gotten. I feel like the small person is completely outpriced of this gorgeous and exciting market. :(

I have to agree with you there... the cost of LEGO collecting, while always expensive, has gotten to the point of outright ridiculousness in the last few years.

I’m not sure about the microbuild scale, I would rather all sets were minifigure size, although I appreciate that the scope is challenging. I’m pleased that they are still producing Middle-earth items, although the prices are crazy!

I have missed out on the 2012-2014 line, but I did get the Rivendell set for a birthday and bought the Shire set. I really love both, especially Rivendell.
Sadly, Lego is really expensive and also is doing a lot of cheap things for the price. If you compare Lego to other companies like Cada, Lumibrix, Cobi or even Modbrix, those brands often offer a lot more for a lesser price.
That being said, I think Rivendell is one of the best sets Lego has ever put out hands down.
Now that Lego is on my mind, a couple of years ago there was a project to stage the Lord of the Rings film trilogy as a series of vignettes. They made 77 of those and I think they are marvelous. For those interested in the result, I have a link to a German site that catalogued them all:
