Really shows though, you don't want to buy cut signatures. Practice enough, and these become plausible fakes.
I guess the plan is to make a little scrap on this while he improves his forgeries? Admit they are fakes and don't charge too much, then sign something worth more for a big payday down the road.
That certainly feels like a possibility. Hard to see any other reason to be doing this. At least eBay have taken the item down. I pointed out that the Tolkien signature is a registered trademark of The Tolkien Estate and HarperCollins.
If everyone just continues to report this kind of crap every time it happens, might make a tiny bit of progress. I'd strongly suspect 90% of what this seller sells is actually fake (signed cards, etc).
"Some surface marks including some pen" apparently. Not sure I'd quite describe those as "surface marks", personally. Hopefully no one is dumb enough to spend £130 on this.
