Cover art for For Beginners book is terrible. Truly amateurish.

Yes, I think the illustrator had just read "Adobe Illustrator for beginners". It really is bad.

On a positive note, I really disliked the original cover for Tolkien's Library, and I think the new one is much, much, better.

I would love to know this, too, particularly why this would be published by yet another HC imprint, William Morrow, and Urulókë mentioned on a LETTERS edition coming out on Sept 1 (?) there is a bit of a mix-up?

This is supposed to be published on Oct 4.

William Morrow is the new name for the bit of HMH that HC acquired. I think the use of Mariner was a temporary "fix".

My guess is that this might be the boxed set of re-issued 2013 Hobbit/LoTR.

HC itself will publish a similar title 2 days later: Tolkien Anthology

What puzzles me is the 320 page count. If that's correct, it has to be a full-color book, and can't be Hobbit/LoTR box set. Could it be the Marquette exhibition book?

320 pages maybe for shorter works as in A Tolkien Miscellany.
Wonder what they chose?
