I suppose this is well known, but Christopher Tolkien signed books at Mythcon 18, July 24-27, 1987, in Milwaukee, WI, including the Houghton Mifflin Silmarillion. (I saw him do it. I was there.) So one will find Tolkien books from US publishers with genuine CRT signatures.

I wasn’t there, but have (since) acquired a book he signed. (I’ve blacked out the dedication for privacy in the photo)
