"Depicted on the Gandalf tankard is this wizard's daring escape from Saruman's tower. It shows the Great Eagle of the Mountain, Gwaihir the Windlord, with its wide sweeping wings descending upon the pinnacle Orthanc. In another scene, Gandalf is featured battling against the ferocious Balrog upon the Bridge of Khazad-dum. A profile of Gandalf with his long flowing beard and deep-set eyes exudes a quiet mystique."
