Tolkien, writing to Allen & Unwin, encloses possible jacket designs, one for The Fellowship of the Ring, and another for The Two Towers. Describing them as “notions”, Tolkien says that they are technically deficient but hopes someone with better ability may be able to “produce something” out of them.
