Wheeler replies to Tolkien's letter Letter from J.R.R. Tolkien to R.E.M. Wheeler • c. 3 and 8 December 1931 (#1744)[1] with thanks for his note. He suggests that Tolkien retain his note on 'Nodens' for the time being while he (Wheeler) decides if he will rewrite it to include details on any association with Nuada-Lludd-Lydney.
In July 1932 Tolkien’s note 'The Name ‘Nodens’' is published as Appendix A in Report on the Excavation of the Prehistoric, Roman, and Post-Roman Site in Lydney Park, Gloucestershire by R.E.M. Wheeler and T.V. Wheeler.
Bodleian Library remarks that "there are detailed manuscript notes on the verso by Tolkien relating to vowel shifts in early British".
