Tolkien expresses joy that Christopher enjoyed the next three chapters of "The Ring" and provides information about the schedule for sending the remaining chapters. The character Sam is highlighted as the most closely drawn and the genuine hobbit, succeeding Bilbo from the first book. Additionally, he reflects on the naming of flowers and suggests inventing mysterious names for nameless flowers, mentioning some of their own creations in the Elvish language for Sam's garden.
