GA&U receive the typescript of Farmer Giles of Ham,^{The version read at the Lovelace Society in 1938[1]} with a note attached in which Tolkien mentions poems and other texts he had consider for publication with Farmer Giles.

GA&U will look at it, and it will be read by Stanley Unwin, David Unwin, and W.N. Beard. The typescript was sent out to a reader, who will return it on 19 August.^{Chronology, p. 322[2]}
