TCG Letter #815

From
J.R.R. Tolkien
To
Michael Blashka
Date
Mid to late 1960s
Type
Autograph Letter Signed
Transcript
Partial
Joy Hill replies to a letter in which she is described as "his chief scribe". The Silmarillion is not yet ready for publication and no date is known.

Tolkien's note to Joy Hill describes the letter as "cracked" and while she has no need to reply, he himself found it amusing. The correspondent had presented their letter as if sent by a king, treating Tolkien's writing as historical fact.
