I agree. Or even more annoying, all the references to "you shall not pass" - which is not even the correct phrase from the book. Gandalf tells the Balrog "You cannot pass!"

I hate that, when the gallery image looks so impressive (condition for first impression LOTR set), but then when you dig in you realize these are falling apart and have facsimile dustjackets only.

I looked at the picture, and thought - nothing special, just an Ace edition for a non-ridiculous price. Then I clicked through, and laughed (and laughed, and laughed). There are at least three levels of head-scratching with this one...

I don't have any problem with displaying stuff, but could we not just have displayed the whole book? Strange. Maybe the cover came off years ago. Did we really need twelve photographs of it too?

No, I cannot think of any excuses for this useless listing, If you had all the books in the dodgy Ace paperbacks, you could at least sell all three of the 1st edition text (I have all of them )
